Spring to the Tap Goes to Federal Way's Family Green Fest

This past weekend Spring to the Tap participated in the City of Federal Way's "Family GreenFest".  We joined other non-profits, public agencies and private businesses that are working toward a greener world.  The Fest offered hands-on activities for kids and a contest with a $1000 prize for the best curbside recycling.   Booths featuring energy conservation, solar power, organic farming and CSAs, waste reduction and recycling, water management and more provided attendees with information on how to contribute to a healthy and sustainable environment.  Spring to the Tap's booth, of course, advocated for choosing tap water over bottled water, and a new 3-D visual portraying plastic- bottle pollution drew a lot of attention. 

Our "Message in a Bottle" sculpture traveled to Federal Way with us.  Yes, it's now ours, given to Spring to the Tap by Enumclaw's National Arts Honor Society for use at events.  Art students Angie Main, Kara Vanderford, Kristen Gustafson, and Hannah Sturmer created the sculpture to raise awareness about the health of our oceans.  The messages in the bottles were written by students and staff at the high school.  Read them all when you see the sculpture at our next event, maybe Street Fair in July.  Meanwhile, take a look at the slideshow of our day at the Family Green Fest!
